Seriously, it was a bad choice.
But like all bad choices, one can only learn what is needed and resolve to do better next time. The only thing still troubling me is why you even own a hat like that...?
Why do I own a hat like that? Oh Stef, I'm so sorry to have to break this to you via the blogosphere but...I'm Asian. It's like asking why a bird has wings. Because if it didn't, it wouldn't be a bird. I really am so sorry. I know you thought I was just an exotic-looking Brit this whole time.
